Who voted for mandatory involuntary electrical work

I recently had some electrical work done on my house and they said I had no choice but to upgrade outlets and install new fire alarms. I thought, - ..well ok that shouldn't cost too much anyway.

It was an extra $1200!!

My fire alarms work you know. They beep when the battery gets low and it becomes quite annoying. But no, you have to have this new improved setup. What are those clowns at city hall thinking? If they want us to install all this crap then let them pay for it!

Yep it ain't much fun paying for mandatory installations. Best you could do is get a guy who can do the job on the side. It would be cheaper than going with one of those brick and mortar places anyway. Like Dugger.
