Question about growing blackberries in Texas

I planted some blackberry bushes a couple of years ago, but they only produce small fruit. About 1/10 the size of a normal blackberry. Even though I water them regularly. I planted them in my backyard next to my garage. Is it just too hot outside?

To clarify, these are blackberries not dewberries. I also have dewberry vines and they produce plenty of fruit.

Anyone had luck with blackberries? Got any tips for making them produce? Thanks!

The brown leaves in your pics make me think about a lack of water. Blackberries require consistent watering, especially during bloom and fruit set! You need to provide about one inch of water per week. Poor watering can lead to no fruit development and wilting leaves and dehydration.

Yes there was a lack of water for awhile but it was after fruit time. Then again maybe I didn't water enough before that. I'm not sure the got 1 inch per week but the rain helped me for awhile. Guess I'll try harder next time. Get a soaker hose maybe.
