Why You Should Fast
Fasting is great for your health
Subtitle Will Go Here
Where to begin? The benefits are so numerous that I hope I can remember them all. Weight loss, for one. When you fast, after about the first 36 hours of fasting your body will go into full blown ketosis. No balancing your diet, no watching what you eat. No keto strips necessary, because its going to happen. You'll tap directly into your fat stores, and begin burning them up for energy. Down, down, down your weight will go as long as you continue fasting. You can literally fast all of the extra fat right off of your body. This is all natural, your body is built to do this.

That's why you have those fat stores to begin with, they're your spare fuel tank. Unfortunately our bodies do not come with a regulator for that tank, to tell it when to stop storing up more spare fuel. And it will just keep storing more and more fat until you're saddened by it and hate what you see in the mirror. This is where fasting comes in. You can fast for days, weeks, or even months depending on how much body fat you have stored up. How exactly do you know when its time to stop? That's actually the easiest part! Your body has a nice little timer to tell you when its time to break the long fast. When you can see your abdominal muscles, that is when its time to stop. Its really that simple. When you can see your abs, you're going to look a lot different than you do now. So much so that it will become obvious that there is no need to continue fasting.
There's just no need going any further past that point. After all, all the fat is gone! And when you get down to seeing the ab muscles on your belly, your body will reactivate the hunger signal. This tells you that yeah, its time to start eating again.I have another article on how to break the fast, when the time comes. What you should eat when breaking your extended fast. Suffice to say it should be things that are very easy on your stomach, like steamed vegetables. Some people can just dive right into fasting, and get the job done. They'll fast for weeks or months and then their weight problems are over. They're probably going to need some new clothes though. I know I did. If you're one of those people, that's great! Its a helpful twist that the more overweight you are, the more you can fast without feeling too awful much hunger. After the first few days, many people will stop feeling hunger altogether, until all the extra fat is gone and their body sends out a new hunger signal. But if you're 10-40 ish pounds overweight, you may experience some hunger. Then again you may not, this varies from person to person. But the good news is, even that goes away once you're into a full on extended fast. Of course you'll feel the hunger pangs for the first day or two, maybe 3. They'll come and go. But after day 3 is over, you'll most likely be out of hunger territory. Which is helpful to say the least. Getting back to why you should fast, weight loss is the primary goal here.
But there are many other benefits to fasting, which you'll get automatically just by fasting for weight loss. Fasting causes the body to engage in a process called autophagy, (pronounced Ah-tah-phage-y) and a Nobel prize was given in 2016 for study done on autophagy. Autophagy is like its own little miracle, as far as I'm concerned. Autophagy comes from the latin which basically means "eat yourself". And eat it does, but the key piece of information here, is that it only eats the bad things in your body. Autophagy will even feast on cancer! For some reason that I don't think is well understood yet, when the body enters into autophagy, it somehow gains this new ability. It can now tell what is supposed to be there, and what isn't. I compare it to a squad of police, who couldn't see a criminal because he was in a large crowd. But when autophagy kicks in, its like the crowd all clears out, and the criminal is now in plain sight and surrounded by the police. I don't think its unfair to compare cancer, to that criminal.

I'll provide links below to doctors who have just been amazed at the effect that fasting has on cancer. Take a look at this video, by Dr. Alan Goldhamer. The patient was a woman that went from stage 3 follicular lymphoma, to not having any cancer. I'd encourage anyone with questions to watch the full video, and even to watch more on youtube. A simple search for "Fasting - cancer" will give you so many videos on the subject that you won't have time to watch them all. Some people just can't believe this, or are very skeptical. If you're willing to do a bit of googling and video watching you'll find that a great many people have essentially cured themselves of cancer, just by not eating. All hail Fasting.
I'll go into more detail on the medical benefits of fasting, in another article. But it doesn't just eat fat and cancer, fasting has numerous other health benefits as well, and has been shown to have a very positive effect on a great many diseases. When it comes to fasting for disease reasons, modern medicine still hasn't caught up. For them, fasting is still on the cutting edge, and requires a lot more study before they'll give their full endorsement. But some doctors are already onboard with the idea, saying that the benefits and effect on so many diseases are just too great to ignore. Its my belief that in 5, maybe 10 years, they'll have fully come around and will be recommending it for many health ailments. But while fasting may be catching fire in diet and health circles, it still hasn't gone full mainstream when it comes to academia and with medical professionals. So just be aware of that.
The mental effects of fasting should also be mentioned.
Most people experience a feeling of just being "more settled". I can vouch for that one personally. On my last extended fast of 5 days, I experienced this feeling. Its a bit hard to describe, but I can say that my mind seemed to organize my problems better. I think the best description would be, that it put things into perspective for me.
And with a greater perspective, comes a greater confidence. Because you just seem to have a better handle on things, and you write off some of your previously perceived problems, as something silly that you'll just go ahead and handle now. At least that's how it was for me. I have this happen to me every time I fast for long periods, and I've done some long fasts. The positive effects on your mental state from fasting should not be underestimated. They're very real and you'll likely experience them too. I hope I've laid out a few of the reasons you should fast in a good enough manner. But hey, the main thing we talk about here is weight loss and ditching that extra body fat. And fasting is the quickest and easiest way to do that.
